Existing DHHS Group Home Consumers Beware!
View your service assessment document before you agree
to this being passed by DHHS to the NDIS
It is the intention of the Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS), Victoria, to pass service support assessments of their residents, with approval of their stakeholders, to the NDIS for assessment and costing.
We consider the stakeholders should see, and have a copy of this document before giving approval, (a) to ensure it properly reflects their person's needs, (b) to have a benchmark from which to question service level and quality if necessary and, (c) as a benchmark from which to decide the need for additional services under NDIS.
If the DHHS service assessment, what support services they claim to be providing your family member is vague or not as you consider it should be - reject it. Don’t give approval for it to be passed to the NDIS.
The benchmark for the above is, a family member living with parents who has never received support services prior to the NDIS.
The family would sit around the table with an NDIS assessor to detail the family member’s support needs in fine detail. This would be developed into a support plan to be costed by the NDIS, for a suitable service provider to enact.
The family would, morally, be entitled to a copy of the said plan/service need assessment.
