Scale of residential charges for residential services managed by the Department of Human Services - Effective 1 April 2014
This scale replaces the previous Scale of residential charges – dated 1 January 2013
The following table outlines the residential charges and respite fees for disability residential services managed by the Department of Human Services (department).

- Applies to residents who live in a group home with a rent-only fee structure. Residents contribute to shared housekeeping expenses as stated in their financial plan.
- This fee is based on a rent component only.

Board and lodging fee – rent and service components
The following items are included in the board and lodging fee:
- Rent
- Utilities (including gas water and electricity)
- Communications including telephone
- Bedding and Linen
- Food
- General household consumable supplies
- Communal furnishings and whitegoods
- Household equipment and utensils
- Maintenance, repair and/or replacement of the items listed above following wear and tear or accidental breakage
Residents of residential institutions and residents, who moved to Plenty Residential Services or paid an ex-St Nicholas fee prior to 1 April 2014, will also receive:
- Basic furniture and replacement when required
- Laundry services
- First aid & medical supplies:
- Prescription drugs
- Incontinence aids
- Sunscreen
- Food supplements
- Support services to the extent provided by the facility, that is:
- Physiotherapy
- Occupational therapy
- Education and recreational services
- Transport

Board and Lodging: rent and service components
This fact sheet provides a more detailed list of the rent and service components provided as part of the Board and Lodging residential charge for residents living in Department of Human Services managed residential services, including a description of each component.
Board and Lodging fee includes the cost of the following items:
Rent: An amount for the use of the resident's room and common areas. Rent also includes maintenance to the property including repairing house fixtures or fittings that are broken or faulty and maintenance undertaken to prevent deterioration of the property, and maintenance of outside areas.
Utilities: The supply and use of utilities including gas, water and electricity.
Communications: The supply and reasonable usage of shared phone lines for the household including a fixed landline or shared mobile phone.
Food: Food prepared or consumed inside the home including shared takeaway meals (includes meals prepared in the home but consumed while at routine day activities). Food supplements, specialised dietary requirements and thickeners recommended by health professionals.
Bedding and Linen: Provision and replacement of standard manchester. Includes items such as bed sheets, pillows, pillow cases, doonas and blankets, towels and face cloths.
General household consumable supplies: Items used by the household that need to be replaced regularly because they are used or wear out. Includes items like cleaning and laundry products, light globes and toilet paper.
Communal furnishings and whitegoods: Provision and replacement of furnishings and whitegoods in living or shared areas (for example, not a resident's personal room). This includes furnishings and whitegoods in the living areas of residents living in individual units.
Household equipment and utensils: Provision and replacement of household equipment and utensils in living or shared areas.
Board and Lodging fee excludes the cost of the following items
Exclusions: Clothing, toiletries, insurance, medication, intentional damage to property, personal mobile phone or internet connections, personal furniture, restaurant meals, dry cleaning, private transport, day service fees, holidays and pay TV access.
